Online English Courses in Canada: SGIC General English Online and Online Pathway (2026)
You can learn English with a Canadian school without leaving your home country. This guide explains how the online courses at St. George International College (SGIC) work, who they are for and what you need to join.
››› General English Online
General English Online helps you improve all four skills of English: speaking, listening, reading and writing. You learn from experienced teachers in interactive, engaging lessons.
Schedule: full time, 20 lessons per week, Monday to Friday (Friday is asynchronous).
Start dates: students can start every Monday.
Placement: new students take an oral and written assessment test, so you join a class that matches your level.
Progress check: students write a practice Cambridge test every second week, so you and your teacher can see your progress.
››› What you need to join
A Zoom account, a camera and a Gmail account. A schedule for students studying from other countries is available, so ask an advisor about your time zone.
››› Online pathway to Canadian universities
The University and College Pathway Program (UCPP) is also available online. Students who complete it can enter SGIC partner institutions without an IELTS or TOEFL score. Hybrid study lets you start online in your home country and continue on campus in Canada.
